Another step

Well it must seem I have been stuck in the mud or something because I have been very quiet with all of the social media we are to be contributing to. I have been busy finding wonderful resources to use with the students and have not taken the time to share them with you - sorry. I am happy to say I just completed my first xtranormal movie and it was loads of fun. The library is hosting our book fair this week and I am welcoming our students six times a day for six days and I thought this might be the perfect opportunity to give xtranormal a try. This way I don't have to keep repeating myself and I hope it will be fun for the students to watch and listen. I am going to try to embed it in this post.

First Step

Welcome to the One Step Blog. Here I will share some of my experiences and resources I have found in the area of education technology. This is a segment of my field that I find especially exciting and filled with possibilities. The first resource I would like to share is www.voki.com. You will see the voki I made for this blog in the upper right corner. To listen to the voki press the arrow button. Notice how she follows your mouse! It is very easy to make a voki and the students enjoy listening to them. I have used vokis before to introduce a lesson, this really grabs the student's attention. The students at Silver Lake Middle School have created vokis that we have added to our moodle site. They have recorded themselves giving the daily homework - a new spin on our audio podcasts! Try it out - I think you will like it!
